How I knew we would become engaged

Christmas, 2006. I received a promise ring. It was the first time in my life I've been speechless.

How I Met Zach

...well, we were both working at Target in Crystal, MN, in late February, 2006. About day 3 on the job, I was walking past a tall, dark, handsome man (not traditionally my type) as he stocked pop and I asked him where the bathroom was. I was new, I didn't even know where the bathroom was! He said, "Hi! I'm Zach," with great enthusiasm, and directed me to the bathroom. I found out later that he thought I was attractive, and mentioned as much to a coworker who had witnessed our first greeting. This led to Zach's subtle pursuit of me in my checkout lane. I was the only cashier he would go to, even if my line was the longest. And when he would get to the front of the line, he would fiddle around, trying to find something to buy! The first time he went through my line, I greeted him with "Hi, Kyle!" (Though getting his name wrong did not deter him in the least.) He said, "No, it's actually Zach." I felt really stupid, but I didn't get it wrong again. By about the ninth time he came through my line--on his day off, to buy a pack of gum, which he fiddled around to find, of course--I gave him my number. He called me that night. Our first date was March 18th, 2006. Obviously, we hit it off. In case you didn't notice, we're getting married. :)
